Schaumburg....have you heard of it?

Last week I was in Schaumburg, Illinois.  Nice little town.  Boat loads of restaurants.  I've traveled so much this year that I actually had to sit here and think a minute about what town I was in last week.  Remembering the restaurants takes even more time (completing my expense report helped greatly).

1.  Seasons 52:  We ate here twice.  Once for lunch and again at dinner on a separate night. All menu items are under 475 calories.  Butter cannot be found in this restaurant.  That can be good or bad!!  But the food is so tasty from fresh herbs that I didn't miss the butter.  And the food was light - so much so, that I didn't feel heavy after I had finished eating.  (I will not discuss the bag of M&M's that I scarfed down after lunch).  Lunch was a buffalo burger with a chili sour cream (no mayo) and a small salad with a white balsamic.  Dinner was a cup of vegie soup and a flatbread with a touch of cheese, plum tomatoes and roasted garlic.  The flatbread really could have used a touch of sea salt to bring out the flavors but otherwise, the food was really good.

2.  Rosebud:  A LOT of food for very reasonable prices.  I had a salad and orecchiette salsiccia with roaster garlic, sausage, and broccolini.  It had a light sauce made from the pasta water, oil, and the roasted garlic that was just yummy.  Really, really good.  Too much food.  Fantastic waitress.

3. Wildfire:  This is a chain restaurant in the Chicago area but I loved it!  It has a 20's great gatsby feel to it.  Dark decor and plush seats which surround you and welcome you to eat more!  I had a nice little salad and the skirt steak with marinated red onions.  DELISH but way too much for one person to eat.  The skirt steak was grilled to perfection!.  But the most memorable part of the meal was the Torched Cherry Limeade.  It tasted just like Sonic's cherry limeade - and who doesn't like that???  I promise (!!) I will provide the recipe for this - I just have to work out details (I know the ingredients but need to determine the measurements).  It was so good that I had two!  YIKES!!
